"Saturday Night Live" (SNL), a long-standing pillar of American television comedy, is currently celebrating its 50th year.

However, the show has been grappling with a decline in humor for quite some time, with its golden era seemingly a distant memory. Despite this, the show has managed to produce a few amusing segments from time to time.

According to RedState, the latest episode featured Maya Rudolph portraying Vice President Kamala Harris and Jim Gaffigan embodying Tim Walz in the opening segment. Gaffigan's portrayal of Walz was particularly noteworthy, with the actor delivering a performance that was both amusing and uncannily accurate.

"When Kamala Harris called me and asked me to be her vice president, I said, 'yeah,'" Gaffigan's Walz quipped. "This is personal for me. I love this country. And, as a former teacher, I need the money." He further added, "This suit is from Costco. It's a Kirkland brand. They make great dog food!"

Rudolph, on the other hand, effectively conveyed Harris's desire for her "choice" to exit the stage. The episode also featured a humorous segment on President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, with SNL veteran Dana Carvey reprising his role as Biden. Carvey's portrayal of Biden was remarkably accurate, capturing the President's distinctive gait and his tendency to use filler words when he loses his train of thought.

"We couldn't have gotten here without one man. And his name is Ja Biden," Rudolph's Harris declared. "Get on out here, Ja Biden!"

Carvey's "Biden" then made his entrance, stating, "a lot of people forget" and even he forgets he was still occupying the Oval Office. "But guess what, and by the way, I think I did a pretty good job," he said. "But folks, we still got work to do. No joke. I'm being serious right now. Come on."

The skit continued with "Biden" leaning in and whispering, "The rich don't pay their fair share! They gotta pay their fair share! We gotta build back better, build back the better...can't believe it's not butter!"

Rudolph's "Harris" then attempts to usher him off the stage, thanking him for "putting country first and turning over the reins." However, "Biden" resists, revealing, "I didn't want to! They made me."

The skit concludes with "Biden" stating that he and Harris were "the same," prompting "Harris" to push him off the stage.

This is a clear nod to the real-life political dynamics, where Harris is striving to establish herself as a change agent, distinct from Biden. However, the skit suggests that she is a significant part of the Biden-Harris administration's failures, a reality she is keen to avoid.

The segment, largely successful due to Carvey's talent, could have been further enhanced with a random cackle from "Harris." However, the fact that SNL is willing to highlight these political dynamics suggests that Harris may indeed be facing some challenges.

In the world of political satire, SNL's latest episode serves as a reminder of the show's potential to deliver insightful and humorous commentary on current events. Despite its struggles, the show continues to provide a platform for critical analysis of political figures, reminding us of the power of humor in shedding light on the realities of our political landscape.
