Vice President Kamala Harris has recently been the subject of mockery on social media platforms following her call for Americans to abandon "failed policies" that have been demonstrated to be ineffective.

This call was made during her address on the economy on Wednesday.

In her economic policy speech delivered at The Economic Club of Pittsburgh, as reported by Fox News, Harris underscored her "middle-class upbringing" and committed to "build a strong middle-class." She proposed measures such as enhancing the tax break for nascent small businesses and offering a $25,000 credit to first-time homebuyers.

Harris asserted, "When the middle class is strong. America is strong. And we can build a stronger middle class. The American economy-- is the most powerful force for innovation and wealth creation in human history. We just need to move past the failed policies that we have proven don't work. And like generations before us, let us be inspired by what is possible."

However, her remarks about "moving past" failed policies sparked amusement among conservative political commentators on social media. They found her statement paradoxical given her current position as vice-president.

Steve Cortes, a former 2020 Trump campaign advisor and Fox News contributor, humorously commented, "Acceptance is the first step." Buzz Patterson, a columnist for Redstate, added his quip, "Who wants to tell her?" Seth Dillon, CEO of Babylon Bee, interpreted her words as an endorsement for Trump, stating, "Kamala Harris says we need to move past the failed policies that don’t work. She’s telling to vote for Trump. Listen to her."

Other conservatives joined in the jesting. A conservative commentator known as LibsofTikTok posted, "New Trump ad just dropped!" while Rep. Troy Nehls, R-Texas, responded, "You’re right. The American people are sick and tired of the Harris-Biden Administration’s failed policies. November can’t come soon enough!" Stephen L. Miller, host of the Versus media podcast, pointed out the contrasting messages from the administration, posting, "Quite the optics today as Harris is out saying we need to move past failed policies while the old man is on The View saying he delegated everything to her in his administration."

In her speech, Harris also referred to her 2024 opponent as "one of the biggest losers ever," echoing President Biden's earlier comment about Trump on "The View." Despite her efforts to focus on the economy in her recent public remarks, polls indicate that Harris lags behind Trump on key issues such as the economy and inflation. This suggests that she has a significant challenge ahead in bridging the gap between herself and Trump on the primary concern of Americans.
