In a recent statement, FBI Director Christopher Wray has pledged the full resources of the bureau to investigate the two attempted assassinations on former President Donald Trump.

Wray's commitment was made public during his address at the Aspen Cyber Summit in Washington, DC, as reported by Fox News on Wednesday. This comes despite the FBI's ongoing investigation into Trump under the auspices of the Biden-Harris Department of Justice.

According to The Post Millennial, the FBI is spearheading the investigation into the assassination attempt in Butler, PA. However, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has initiated a separate investigation into the incident that occurred in his state. DeSantis has expressed skepticism over the FBI's dual role as both prosecutor and investigator in Trump's case. The federal authorities have charged the alleged assassin, Ryan Routh, with two gun-related offenses, but DeSantis believes that charges of attempted murder could be pursued at the state level.

In his address, Wray sought to reassure the American public of the FBI's commitment to the case. "For the second time in just over two months, we’ve witnessed what appears to be an attempt to attack our democracy and our democratic process," he said. He expressed relief that Trump was safe and assured that the FBI was working tirelessly to uncover the truth behind the incidents. "Our work is very much ongoing, and we’re just a few days into the investigation, so we’re limited in what we can say at this point," he added.

Wray further emphasized the bureau's dedication to the investigation, stating, "we have dedicated the full force of the FBI to this investigation, and that runs the gamut from criminal to national security resources … from tactical support to evidence response teams … from forensic scientists to operational technology personnel. Together, we’re working around the clock to investigate this."

Wray's commitment to the investigation comes amid controversy. He had previously suggested that it might have been "shrapnel," not a bullet, that struck Trump at the Butler event, a claim contradicted by his own deputy and criticized by Trump. Trump has also accused Wray of concealing the true state of President Joe Biden’s mental health.

The FBI's investigation is ongoing amid growing questions about the suspect, Ryan Wesley Routh. Routh, a 58-year-old Democratic activist, is accused of attempting to assassinate Trump with an AK-style firearm. He was arrested shortly after allegedly pointing a rifle through the tree-lined perimeter of Trump’s International Golf Club.

Adding to the controversy, Acting US Secret Service (USSS) Director Ronald Rowe admitted that the USSS had not searched the golf course's perimeter because a golf game was not on Trump’s “official schedule.” This admission raises further questions about the security measures in place for the former president, and whether they were sufficient to protect him from such threats.
