In a recent interview, renowned British musician Elton John expressed his amusement at former U.S. President Donald Trump's use of his hit song title as a nickname for North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

Trump's moniker for Kim, "Little Rocket Man," is a reference to John's 1972 chart-topper, "Rocket Man," which also served as the title for a 2019 biographical film about the singer's life.

According to Mediaite, the legendary singer found Trump's nickname for the North Korean dictator both "hilarious" and "brilliant," stating that it provoked laughter. This remark came in response to Trump's 2017 insult directed at Kim, following a series of high-profile weapons tests by North Korea. Trump warned that if North Korea persisted in threatening the U.S., he would unleash "fire and fury" upon the nation. He concluded his threats by dubbing Kim "Little Rocket Man."

"I laughed, I thought that was brilliant," John shared with Variety. "I just thought, 'Good on you, Donald.’ … Donald’s always been a fan of mine, and he’s been to my concerts many, many times." The singer further disclosed his cordial relationship with Trump, stating that he has "always been friendly toward" the former president due to his fandom.

John's comments reflect his appreciation for Trump's support and his sense of humor regarding the former president's unique approach to international diplomacy. "So, I mean, I’ve always been friendly toward him, and I thank him for his support. When he did that, I just thought it was hilarious. It made me laugh," the singer added. This interaction underscores the often unexpected intersections of politics and pop culture, and the unique ways in which public figures navigate these convergences.
