As the 2024 election cycle looms, the Philadelphia Eagles have found themselves embroiled in a controversy involving counterfeit endorsements for Vice President Kamala Harris.

The NFL team has been forced to take action to dispel the false advertisements, which have been making rounds on the internet.

According to The Post Millennial, the Eagles have been battling a wave of fake endorsements for Harris, with videos and images of the purported advertisements going viral. The team has since denounced these ads, labelling them as fraudulent. "We are aware counterfeit political ads are being circulated and are working with our advertising partner to have them removed," the Eagles announced on their online platform.

The counterfeit ads, which were reportedly displayed on bus shelters, were brought to light by Steve Keely, a reporter at Fox29 in Philadelphia. A spokesperson for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA), which owns the city's bus shelters, clarified that "SEPTA's ad spaces are mostly in train stations and on-board buses and trains. So far, we have not heard anything about ads like this appearing on SEPTA property."

The fraudulent posters, some of which have already been taken down, declared Harris as the "official candidate of the Philadelphia Eagles." They also directed viewers to "philadelphiaeagles.com/vote," a legitimate webpage run by the Eagles to encourage voter participation.

The Eagles' website provides a plethora of resources for those looking to engage in the political process. Among the organizations linked on the site are "Power the Polls" and "Vote 411." The advisory council of Power to the Polls, which claims to be non-partisan, is co-chaired by Republican Adam Kinzinger and actress Kerry Washington, both of whom have spoken at the Democratic National Convention.

"Vote 411," launched by the League of Women Voters in 2006, has a track record of supporting left-leaning causes, including abortion rights and transgender visibility. This incident underscores the importance of vigilance in the face of potential misinformation, particularly as the next election cycle approaches. The Philadelphia Eagles' swift action to rectify the situation serves as a reminder of the role that organizations can play in maintaining the integrity of the political process.
