This comes in the wake of Team USA's underwhelming performance in the Paris Olympics, where they managed to secure only a single medal in boxing.
According to The New York Post, Paul's declaration followed Omari Jones' bronze win in the men's welterweight category. The rest of the American team, however, failed to secure any medals in men's boxing, a fact that Paul finds particularly disappointing given that a semifinal berth guarantees a medal. Jahmal Harvey nearly reached the semifinals in the featherweight division, but was defeated by Munarbek Seitbek-Uulu of Kyrgyzstan in the quarterfinals.
"I'm going to enter the 2028 Olympics for boxing in Los Angeles," Paul, who will be 31 by then, told Betr. "I'm sick and tired of waiting around and waiting for a gold for Team USA." Paul's professional record stands at 10 wins out of 11 bouts in the cruiserweight category, though none of his victories have been particularly noteworthy. His aspirations extend beyond Olympic gold; he also harbors ambitions of winning a world title.

Paul's journey to Olympic glory and a world title is far from straightforward. He is set to face boxing legend Mike Tyson in a bout scheduled for November. His most recent victory came in July, when he defeated former UFC fighter Mike Perry via technical knockout.

Despite recent discussions about retirement to focus on other ventures, Paul seems to have rekindled his passion for boxing. He was a regular presence at the boxing events at Roland Garros during the Olympics. "Not retiring," he said. "I definitely probably just added a couple more years onto my boxing career because of that. Los Angeles. United States. Sick as f--k. I'm just dropping bombs. You heard it here first. Gold medal, brother."
