Dutch, who was critically injured in the incident, has expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of support he and his family have received in the aftermath of the event.
According to The Post Millennial, Dutch was standing directly behind Trump when the gunfire erupted on July 13. The 57-year-old veteran sustained two gunshot wounds and was subsequently placed in a medically induced coma for treatment. His condition was critical, with injuries to his chest and liver.
In his statement, Dutch said, "David and his wife, Sheree, and the rest of the Dutch family wish to express their sincerest gratitude for the enormous level of support that they have received from their friends, their fellow Americans and everyone else, whether domestic or abroad, that have kept David and his family in their prayers.”

He further extended his gratitude to “the brave men and women that saved his life, including, but not limited to, the police officers, the medics, the life flight crew and the medical professionals of Allegheny General Hospital, as well as those who continue to care for him as he navigates the road to recovery."

Dutch also expressed his thoughts and prayers for the family of Corey Comperatore, a fire chief who was tragically killed while shielding his wife and daughters from the gunfire at the rally. He also mentioned James Copenhaver, another Trump supporter who survived two gunshot wounds while expressing his political views at the rally.

James Copenhaver, who was also critically injured with gunshot wounds to his arm and stomach, is currently in a rehabilitation center for full recovery. The assassination attempt also left Trump with a bullet wound to the ear, from which he has reportedly recovered swiftly.
