Kansas City Chiefs' Harrison Butker, a well-known advocate for traditional values, has recently inked a contract extension, catapulting him to the position of the highest-paid kicker in the history of the National Football League (NFL).

According to The Blaze, the four-year extension, valued at $25.6 million, guarantees Butker an annual salary of $6.4 million through the 2028 season. This figure surpasses the earnings of fellow kickers Justin Tucker of the Baltimore Ravens and Jake Elliott of the Philadelphia Eagles, both of whom average $6 million per year. Prior to this, Butker's contract was already impressive, providing him with an average of $4.055 million per year.

"The better you are at the job the more a team is willing to put up with," Butker stated, emphasizing the meritocratic nature of the sport. Interestingly, the kicker negotiated the deal himself, demonstrating his commitment to his career and team.

"There's no place I'd rather be than with the Chiefs, excited to finalize a 4-year extension. To the Heights!" Butker expressed his enthusiasm on his social media page.

Butker's prowess on the field is not his only claim to fame. In May 2024, he delivered a speech at a Catholic university, advocating for Catholicism and traditional values while criticizing the 'woke' culture. This stance attracted criticism from leftist activists who labeled him as anti-woman and anti-gay.

Following the announcement of Butker's new deal, former ESPN host Trey Wingo commented, "The Harrison Butker extension... making him the highest-paid kicker... underscores the inherent truth of the NFL: the better you are at the job the more a team is willing to put up with pure and simple."

Radio host EJ Stewart criticized the Kansas City Chiefs for "dignifying weirdos" by re-signing Butker, calling it "unbecoming of a championship head coach" like the Chiefs' Andy Reid.

Despite the controversy, Butker's performance statistics are undeniable. He boasts the second-highest field-goal percentage of all time at 89.1%, trailing only Tucker at 90.2%. Moreover, he had a stellar season in 2023, scoring six out of six from beyond 50 yards and finishing with a 94.3% field-goal percentage. The Georgia-born player also has several crucial playoff field goals and three Super Bowl rings to his credit.
