Dr. Kevin Roberts, President of the Heritage Foundation, recently engaged in a heated exchange with MSNBC hosts on the topics of a potential second Trump term and the issue of illegal immigration

The discussion took place on the Saturday edition of "The Weekend."

According to the Daily Caller, co-host Symone Sanders-Townsend challenged Roberts on the Heritage Foundation's alleged plan to institutionalize "Trumpism" through Project 2025. This project outlines a series of conservative policy proposals for the federal government's administration. Sanders-Townsend, a former senior advisor to Biden-Harris, suggested that the plan was specifically designed for a potential second Trump administration.

Roberts refuted this claim, stating, "We couldn’t do that because the Heritage Foundation is not partisan." He further expressed that he "would have been thrilled" if President Joe Biden had requested a briefing on the project.

The conversation then shifted to the controversial topic of using the National Guard for deportations. Roberts responded by emphasizing the need to secure the border and advocating for the largest mass deportation system in American history.

"It is unjust and illegal and evil that more than 10 million illegal aliens have come to this country. It’s imperative that we send those people back. Invite them back to come through the legal system — we love immigrants at Heritage — but we also love the rule of law," Roberts stated.

When asked about the logistics of such a mass deportation, Roberts suggested that the mere discussion and initial implementation of the plan would lead to self-deportation. He credited President Trump for initiating this conversation and causing people to reconsider the risk of illegal activities.

Roberts also mentioned the potential use of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in executing these plans. He claimed that even a majority of left-leaning individuals agree with mass deportations due to the damage caused by the ongoing border crisis.

The discussion took an unexpected turn when Sanders-Townsend overrode her co-host, former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele, to extend the segment. Steele then asked Roberts about the current activities of the illegal immigrants in question.

Roberts responded by stating that many of these individuals are involved in criminal activities, citing the alleged murder of a 12-year-old girl by two Venezuelan migrants in Houston as an example.

When Steele pointed out that this was only one instance among millions, Roberts retorted, "We can take the remaining time of this segment and I can give you a lot of examples." He then challenged Sanders-Townsend to explain these statistics to the families of victims.

The conversation concluded with a disagreement over terminology, with Roberts insisting on the term "illegal aliens" over Sanders-Townsend's preferred "undocumented individuals." Roberts argued that most illegal immigrants "are not even making an attempt to be legal," a statement that led to a swift topic change to abortion by Sanders-Townsend.

This heated exchange underscores the ongoing debate over immigration policy and the potential for a second Trump administration, demonstrating the deep ideological divide that continues to shape American politics.
