In a recent development, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has once again petitioned the court to prolong the gag order on former President Donald Trump, despite the conclusion of the hush money trial.

According to Gateway Pundit, Bragg's office has justified this request by citing persistent threats and attempts by Trump's supporters to "identify jurors and threaten violence against him."

In a filing on Friday, Bragg's prosecutors stated, “Defendant’s demand that this Court precipitously end these protections, even before the sentencing hearing on July 11, is overstated and largely unfounded.” This comes after a New York Appeals court rejected Trump's attempt to appeal the gag order in Bragg's case, even after a guilty verdict had been returned by the jury.

Trump had previously implored the court to lift the gag order, arguing that "the trial has concluded." However, Matthew Colangelo, a key figure in President Biden's Department of Justice, earlier this month requested Judge Juan Merchan to maintain the gag order to "avoid threats to the fairness of the trial itself."

Bragg's prosecutors have also asked Judge Merchan to uphold Trump's gag order, even after a guilty verdict was returned in the hush money case. Colangelo has similarly opposed Trump's attempt to lift the gag order in the Stormy Daniels hush money case.

Ultimately, New York's high court dismissed Trump's appeal "upon the ground that no substantial constitutional question is directly involved." This ongoing legal saga continues to highlight the tension between the conservative former president and the current liberal administration.
