A prominent LGBTQ and DEI activist in Georgia, who has thrice unsuccessfully run for city council, was apprehended this week on charges related to the intent to distribute methamphetamines and cocaine, as well as firearms charges.

As reported by The Post Millennial, the Columbus Police Department in Georgia issued a press release stating, "On Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., following a months-long investigation, the Columbus Police Department's Special Operations Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in the 4200 block of 16th Avenue. Jeremy Hobbs, 49, was taken into custody without incident."

The search led to the discovery of 5.4 grams of crack cocaine, 20.7 grams of methamphetamines, 23.8 grams of liquid GHB, and an INA .38 revolver. Consequently, Hobbs faces charges of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of VGCSA Schedule I Drug with intent to distribute, possession of drug-related objects, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Hobbs, a left-leaning activist, was the head of the Colgay Pride organization. The organization's webpage describes Hobbs as an "organizer and political consultant. He served as Columbus, Georgia’s first LGBT liaison to the Columbus, Georgia Mayor’s Commission on Unity, Diversity, and Prosperity under Mayors Teresa Tomlinson and Skip Henderson from 2014 to 2019."

The Colgay Pride's Instagram page features numerous videos of Hobbs advocating for various left-wing perspectives. The organization has also been involved in organizing adult drag shows and LGBTQ support group events.

Despite his activism, Hobbs has been unsuccessful in his three attempts to secure a city council seat, as stated on the organization's website. He has, however, served in various roles within the Columbus city government for over three decades.
