In a recent development, New York's Representative Mike Lawler has demanded the immediate expulsion of progressive Representative Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) from Congress.

This call for removal comes in the wake of Tlaib's speech at the People’s Conference for Palestine, an event that has been linked to a US-designated terrorist organization, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). The PFLP is also recognized as a terror group by Japan, Canada, and the European Union.

Lawler's demand for Tlaib's removal was triggered by her association with the conference, which is reportedly funded by the PFLP. "Associating with and speaking before groups that are funded by US-designated terrorist organizations is disqualifying," Lawler stated, emphasizing the need for Tlaib's immediate removal from Congress.

Tlaib's surprise speech was delivered at the People’s Conference for Palestine held at the Huntington Place Convention Center in Detroit. The Jerusalem Post reports that the PFLP, a Marxist-Leninist terrorist organization based in Damascus, Syria, sponsors the group.

In her speech, Tlaib criticized President Joe Biden’s approach to the Israel-Hamas conflict. "President Biden says what’s happening in Gaza is not a genocide. Where’s your red line, President Biden?” she questioned, eliciting boos from the audience. Tlaib, the first female Palestinian American to serve in Congress, further criticized the US's military aid to Israel, arguing that it comes at the expense of domestic needs.

Tlaib, known for her history of antisemitic statements and support for the Palestinian terror group Hamas, claimed that anti-Israel activists deserve an apology. She criticized the Biden administration and her congressional colleagues for their treatment of these activists, calling it "disgraceful" and "cowardly."

Last week, the International Criminal Court (ICC) announced its intention to seek arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, and other Hamas leaders. Biden criticized the ICC's move, asserting that Israel’s military operation in the Gaza Strip was “not genocide.” The conflict between Israel and Hamas began with a Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which resulted in 1,200 deaths and over 200 kidnappings.

Tlaib responded to Biden’s statement by accusing him of undermining the ICC's authority and interfering in the legal process. She claimed that Biden's actions were an attempt to shield Netanyahu and other senior Israeli officials from accountability for alleged crimes against humanity. "You are an enabler, President Biden,” Tlaib concluded.
