A tragic incident unfolded in Woodland, California, on Saturday afternoon, when a 2-year-old child was fatally struck by a truck, reportedly driven by a 3-year-old.

The Woodland Police Department revealed that the vehicle was left running at a gas pump when the owner went inside the store. The 3-year-old child, who was initially in the backseat, managed to get into the driver's seat.

The police statement detailed the horrifying sequence of events: "The truck began moving forward and it collided with a two-year-old child who was near a taco stand on the edge of the lot." The officers arrived at the scene to find that the 2-year-old victim had been rushed to the hospital by family members, where the child later succumbed to the injuries.

The victim was identified as Ailahni by FOX40, who was due to celebrate her third birthday at the end of April. Ailahni's father, Sandro Sanchez, recounted the chilling moment he heard the screams and had to rush to apply the brake inside the truck. "She’s always been a happy baby," Sanchez said, describing how Ailahni was enjoying tacos served by her godmother at the time of the accident. "We give her all the love we can. So, I know she left happy."

Sanchez is now urging the authorities to press charges against the owner of the truck. "What the police did here, they just let him go. My daughter is gone. And he left the car on with a minor inside. A 3-year-old," he told FOX40. "I had to come back running and stop the truck. The tires had already got my daughter."
