Tyler Jay Boebert, the eldest son of Republican Representative Lauren Boebert of Colorado, was apprehended by the Rifle Police Department on Tuesday following a series of reported property thefts in the area.

The 18-year-old now faces an array of charges, including five felonies and over a dozen misdemeanors, linked to a spate of vehicle trespasses and thefts.

The young Boebert is accused of four counts of criminal possession of identification documents belonging to several victims, one count of conspiracy to commit a felony, and a plethora of additional misdemeanor and petty offenses. The Rifle Police Department, while confirming the charges, stated that the investigation is ongoing and no further details would be divulged at this juncture. They emphasized that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

According to online jail records, Tyler Boebert is currently under the custody of the Garfield County Sheriff's Office, although no bond information is available. Rep. Boebert's office has yet to comment on the matter.

Earlier this year, law enforcement had interactions with the Boebert family when reports surfaced of a dispute between the congresswoman and her ex-husband, Jayson Boebert, who is also Tyler's father. Following the incident, Jayson was arrested on charges of misdemeanor assault and criminal mischief on January 9. He was subsequently released on bail from the Garfield County Jail, as reported by the New York Post.

Rep. Boebert was granted a temporary restraining order against her ex-husband earlier this month after alleging that Jayson had threatened to harm both her and himself. In court documents, she claimed that her former spouse had made several suicidal threats and threats against her over the past 14 months, as reported by the Denver Post.

Jayson Boebert, in an interview with The Associated Press, denied the allegations, stating that he was the victim and would never harm Lauren. He accused his ex-wife of using the restraining order to justify her move to a new congressional district.

The court documents also mentioned a physical altercation between Jayson and their 18-year-old son on January 9. As Tyler was contacting the authorities, Jayson allegedly seized a rifle and departed. He was subsequently charged with harassment, prohibited use of a weapon, and third-degree assault. Rep. Boebert was not present during this incident.

Rep. Boebert, a two-term Republican representing the western side of Colorado, announced on December 27 that she would be switching congressional districts to run for a seat representing the eastern side of the state. The 4th Congressional District seat will be vacant due to the retirement of Rep. Ken Buck, also a Republican from Colorado.
