On February 13, the House of Representatives officially impeached Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, as reported by RedState.

This action comes amidst widespread criticism of the Biden administration's border policies, which have been described as "open borders" by a range of political figures, including presidential candidates such as Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (I), former President Donald Trump (R), and Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA).

These individuals, along with several GOP senators, have visited the southern border and expressed concern over the influx of human smuggling and drugs, including fentanyl, into the United States.

In a recent incident captured on camera in Lukeville, Arizona, groups of illegal immigrants were seen rushing through a breach in the border wall as Border Patrol and federal contractors attempted to repair it. The human smuggler involved nonchalantly shrugged at the cameras and saluted, highlighting the audacity of these illegal activities.

In response to the escalating crisis, new legislation is set to be introduced by Rep. Stephanie Bice (R-OK). This legislation, known as the Timely Reporting Act, aims to hold the Department of Homeland Security accountable for the timely release of border encounter statistics. If the department fails to release these figures within seven days of the end of each month, the Secretary's salary would be reduced by 25 percent the following month.

Rep. Bice explained the rationale behind the proposed legislation, stating, "In an attempt to hide the monthly illegal crossings, they consistently withhold information until late on Fridays or even the weekends to attempt to hide the truth from Americans. Our border is out of control and the lack of accountability is fostering chaos. My legislation, the Timely Reporting Act, restores transparency and forces the Biden Administration to report illegal migration data in a timely fashion. If they fail to do their job, they will be held accountable and face cuts to their salaries."

This legislation is seen as a strategic move by Rep. Bice, given the increasing number of illegal immigrants from countries such as China, Ecuador, Turkey, Syria, and various parts of Central and South America attempting to enter the U.S.

Bill Melugin, a reporter, has noted a shift in the demographics of those crossing the border illegally. Previously, the majority were mothers, children, and families seeking a better life. However, recently, the majority of those crossing have been single, middle-aged, and military-aged men. This shift has raised concerns, but it appears to be largely ignored or dismissed by Democrats.

This situation is seen as a slight to legal immigrants who have followed the proper procedures to gain entry into the U.S., including completing paperwork and passing a two-part naturalization test. The ease with which illegal immigrants are entering the country is believed to be a contributing factor to Biden's declining support among immigrant communities, including Hispanics.

Despite the current crisis, the U.S. remains a welcoming country, accepting more immigrants than any other nation. However, the majority of these immigrants have entered the country legally and contribute to the economy. The individuals currently exploiting the broken border system appear to be taking advantage of the situation for their own gain.

As the immigration crisis continues to worsen, it is expected to become a central issue in the 2024 general election. The Democrats will likely be forced to take decisive action, rather than simply proposing legislation that allocates funds to other countries.
