In a recent revelation, emails have surfaced indicating that James Biden, the younger brother of President Joe Biden, leveraged his brother's name during his tenure as vice president to gain influence in the now-defunct Americore hospital chain.

POLITICO reports that former Americore executives have disclosed that James Biden had proposed plans to offer equity in the company to the then-Vice President, position him on the board, and even use the company as a promotional tool during a presidential campaign.

Simultaneously, Joe Biden had prioritized healthcare, particularly cancer research, during his vice presidency. In one of the emails obtained by POLITICO, James Biden communicated with the CEO of a Tampa-based company that held licensing rights to an experimental cancer treatment. He wrote, "This would be a perfect platform to expose my Brothers team to [your] protocol." He further added, "Could provide a great opportunity for some real exposure."

However, Americore was plagued with financial difficulties, which resulted in a decline in care standards. This culminated in the death of a patient in 2018 due to subpar care, as reported by POLITICO.

The Justice Department is currently investigating Americore for allegedly conspiring to defraud the Medicare system of $100 million. This follows the discovery that one of their hospitals in Pennsylvania had paid kickbacks after billing the government for lab tests conducted by third-party labs.

A former executive stated, "I was sold that Americore was going to be the salvation of rural hospitals." He added, "The whole thing was a scam, and it didn’t take that long to figure it out.”

In November, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer issued a subpoena for James Biden to testify as part of their impeachment inquiry into the president. The committee had previously discovered in October that then-Vice President Biden had exchanged 29,000 emails using his government email address with accounts linked to his son Hunter and James Biden.

James Biden's deposition with the committee is scheduled for around February 21.
