However, amid this flurry of news, one cannot overlook the statements made by White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, particularly as concerns about Biden's mental acuity intensify.
Jean-Pierre was twice questioned this week about some of Biden's perplexing moments. Initially, she was asked to comment on the President's claim that he had spoken to Francois Mitterand and Helmut Kohl in 2021 at a G7 meeting, despite both leaders having passed away years ago.
In response to this, Jean-Pierre stated, "It is not uncommon" for public figures to misspeak about names. This response, however, is questionable. It is indeed uncommon for most people to confuse Mitterand with Emmanuel Macron or mistake Helmut Kohl for Angela Merkel. While everyone is prone to misspeaking, Biden's continual confusion raises concerns.
Jean-Pierre then proceeded to laud the successes of the Biden administration. However, the American public appears to have a different perspective, given the rising cost of living, the administration's handling of conflicts, and the President's questionable mental state.
The Press Secretary used the same defense when Biden confused the leader of Egypt with the president of Mexico during his press conference, stating, "Biden has gaffed names his entire career. It is not uncommon that he has done that!" This statement, however, is not as strong a defense as she might think. Asserting that Biden has always been prone to such mistakes does not inspire confidence. Moreover, the issue is not merely 'gaffing names,' but a consistent confusion that is causing concern.
When asked if Biden would take a mental competency test, Jean-Pierre responded, "I'm not a medical doctor," effectively avoiding the question and offering no indication of whether the President would undergo such a test.
Fox's Peter Doocy posed a question that many are likely asking: given the Special Counsel's comments on Biden's mental state, who is assisting him in running the country? Jean-Pierre responded tersely, "The President of the United States runs the country, the Commander in Chief runs the country."
This response sparked reactions, with many expressing skepticism. Jean-Pierre then exited the room without responding to a question about when the public could hear from Biden's doctor.
The situation raises serious concerns. Whether it's an impaired Biden or unelected individuals behind the scenes, the current state of affairs is causing alarm and potentially endangering the nation.
