New York City Mayor Eric Adams is grappling with a record low approval rating, as revealed by a recent Quinnipiac University poll.

The survey, published on Wednesday, indicates a mere 28% support for Adams among self-identified registered voters. This is the lowest rating for a New York City mayor since Quinnipiac began tracking this metric in 1996.

The Adams administration has been wrestling with the city's immigration crisis for over a year, a struggle that has significantly impacted his popularity. When dissected by issue, the poll shows that only 33% of New Yorkers approve of Adams' handling of crime, with a 60% disapproval rate. His management of public schools has a 31% approval and 53% disapproval rate.

On immigration, the approval rate drops to 26%, with a 66% disapproval rate. His handling of the city budget has a similar approval rate of 22%, with a 66% disapproval rate. The issue of homelessness is where Adams fares worst, with a mere 22% approval and a staggering 72% disapproval rate.

The poll, conducted between November 30 and December 4, surveyed 1,297 self-identified registered voters via landline and cellphones. The reported margin of error is 2.7%.

Adams' tenure has been marred by not only policy issues but also political scandal. The FBI has initiated an investigation into his campaign finances, and last month, a woman claiming to be a former colleague accused Adams of sexual assault.

In response to the accusation, a City Hall spokesperson told Fox News Digital, "The mayor does not know who this person is. If they ever met, he doesn’t recall it. But he would never do anything to physically harm another person and vigorously denies any such claim."

The migrant crisis has been a thorn in Adams' side for over a year, leading to a rift between New York City and Texas Governor Greg Abbott, as well as President Biden and the White House. Abbott's administration has relocated tens of thousands of migrants from border towns struggling with overcrowding to New York City, infuriating city officials.

Adams has criticized the Biden administration for failing to provide sufficient federal aid to manage the crisis, straining their relationship.
