As my colleague Jeff Charles reported, the response in Gaza and the West Bank was deeply unsettling. Videos surfaced showing the released terrorists draped in Hamas flags, indicating a complete lack of remorse or change in their extremist ideologies.
One video, in particular, gained traction over the weekend, not for the attire of the terrorist, but for her chilling words. Roda Agamiya, a woman previously imprisoned for stabbing an individual in Israel, called for further bloodshed of Jews.
Agamiya, now a free woman, used her newfound liberty to recommit herself to the terrorist organization on Palestinian television. She declared, "We are the sword of Muhammad Daf," referring to the leader of Hamas's military wing. This statement came after her release, which was part of a deal to secure the freedom of innocent children.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the bubble in which Western nations and their citizens exist. Many hold the misguided belief that all cultures are equal and that all humans inherently seek secular peace and prosperity. This is a naive and dangerous assumption.
Recent polling data suggests that over 75 percent of the population in Gaza and the West Bank not only supports Hamas but also endorsed the group's massacre of civilians on October 7th. The portrayal of the "innocent Palestinian" who rejects terrorism and yearns for a single-state utopia is a gross misrepresentation of the ground reality.
While some may attribute this to brainwashing or the issue of "settlements," the harsh truth remains that Hamas's acts of terrorism against innocent Jews are overwhelmingly popular among Palestinians. This is precisely why Israel cannot afford to back down at this juncture. There is no prospect of peace with these individuals. The only viable solution to halt the attacks is to dismantle Hamas entirely.
This may not sit well with the average MSNBC or Sky News host, but it is the harsh reality. Israel must respond to the actual situation, not an idealistic notion of what Palestinians "truly desire." The Palestinians are vocal about their intentions, which is to continue their genocidal campaign against Jews. There is only one feasible response to such a threat.
