Florida Governor Ron DeSantis took to Twitter on Thursday evening to express his concerns about the “weaponization of federal law enforcement,” which he believes poses a grave threat to a free society.

DeSantis pointed out the uneven application of the law based on political affiliation, questioning why the Department of Justice (DOJ) was so zealous in pursuing former President Donald Trump yet passive about Hillary Clinton or Hunter Biden.

DeSantis then shifted his focus to his campaign, promising that his administration would bring accountability to the DOJ, eliminate political bias, and end the weaponization of federal law enforcement.

According to reports, the DOJ has indicted Trump on seven counts related to handling classified documents, making him the first former President in U.S. history to face federal charges. Trump has responded to the accusations by declaring his innocence on Truth Social, stating that the costs are a “hoax” similar to Russiagate.

In a video response, Trump accused the DOJ and FBI of weaponizing their agencies to interfere in the election and destroy his reputation. He also emphasized his innocence, stating that he did nothing wrong and would prove it again.

This is the second time Trump has been indicted this year, but the first time he has been charged federally. In April, the Manhattan District Attorney charged Trump with 34 counts of falsifying business records. Despite the charges, Trump remains the frontrunner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
