Geraldo Rivera, a veteran journalist and Fox News senior correspondent, attempted to buy a steak dinner for a group of Marines who were in Manhattan for Fleet Week.

However, he was informed by the waiter that two other good Samaritans had already offered to pay for the meal. Rivera shared the anecdote on Twitter, expressing his gratitude for the service of the Marines and honoring fallen warriors.

Fleet Week is an annual event that takes place ahead of Memorial Day weekend, bringing thousands of servicemen and women from the Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard to New York City. This year marks the 35th Annual Fleet Week, which began on Wednesday, May 26th. Sailors and Marines gathered on Times Square's famous Red Stairs before taking to Broadway.

The event has been held in New York City since 1984, but was held virtually in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year's Parade of Ships includes vessels from the US Navy, Coast Guard, and Naval Academy, as well as the Italian Navy, the Royal Canadian Navy, and the Royal Navy. Fleet Week will continue through May 30th.
