The charges included second-degree menacing, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and menacing, all non-bailable offenses.
The woman was released on her own recognizance after her hearing Thursday. She promptly went to eat at Burger King/Popeyes with some of her supporters when she left court.
Photos of the attack on the reporter are posted on the New York Post's website. The woman chased the reporter, wielded the machete, and kicked him in the leg.

The incident between Rodriguez and the reporter happened on Tuesday. The reporter was at the apartment complex in an attempt to find out more about an incident on May 2 when Rodriguez was videoed in what appeared to be an attack on a pro-life display from Students for Life.

She says the college told her to apologize for the expletive-filled rant and destruction of the display. She agreed, but before she could do that, Students for Life reacted by "circulating a manipulated video" and that they "mobilized their members to attack."

Rodriguez claims the reporter and photographer didn't use the intercom to enter the building. She asserts they were banging on her door and yelling through it at her.
She lost her position as an adjunct professor after the photos of the attack on the reporter were posted. She's also a faculty member at The School of Visual Arts. That school issued a statement saying it wouldn't renew her contract because of the incident with the reporter.

Rodriguez claims that the ordeal has impacted her mental health. She issued a statement that notes the college that fired her "capitulated" to those who are "racists, white nationalists, and misogynists."
She says the right-wing media is "sensationalizing" her case to propel their agenda. She says they use her as a "prism" to project "attacks on women, trans people, Black people, Latinx people, migrants, and beyond."
