In a robust exchange, Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., alongside other prominent conservative figures such as Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., criticized "The View" co-host Joy Behar following her assertions that Scott has no understanding of the intricacies of racism, juxtaposing his viewpoints with those of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

During a recent airing of "The View," Behar depicted Scott and Thomas as Black Republicans who are champions of self-reliance and individualism yet fail to recognize the systemic racial bias that affects African Americans and other minorities in the United States.

She said, "He's one of these guys, like Clarence Thomas, Black Republican, who believes in pulling yourself up by your bootstraps, rather than understanding the systemic racism that African Americans face in this country and other minorities. He doesn't get it. Neither does Clarence. That's why they're Republicans."

Reacting to a recording of Behar's statements on Twitter, Scott defined himself as the political candidate most feared by the "radical Left." This sentiment mirrored his declaration during his presidential campaign launch in 2024. "When a Black conservative who believes in the future of this nation stands up to be counted, they lose their minds," he stated.

Joining the fray, Congressman Donalds also took issue with Behar's remarks, underscoring a controversial past incident where Behar was pictured as a Black woman for Halloween. This matter became public in 2019. He retorted, "Joy, dressing up as a Black woman for Halloween with dark paint on your face doesn't magically make you Black or make you an expert on what it's like to be Black. From one Black person to another White liberal who got a pass for wearing Black face, sit this one out."

Moreover, conservative analysts voiced their disapproval of Behar's contentious comments. Scott Jennings, a prominent commentator at CNN, expressed his displeasure via Twitter, stating, "Attention black Americans: don't even *think* about having a mind of your own or else this wealthy white lady will come for you."

Scott officially launched his presidential bid the previous Monday, during which he brought attention to multiple instances of rebuke he has received from left-leaning opponents. He remarked, "I'm the candidate the far left fears the most. When I cut your taxes, they called me a prop. When I re-funded the police, they called me a token. When I pushed back on President Biden, they even called me the n-word. I disrupt their narrative. I threaten their control. The truth of my life disrupts their lies!"

However, Behar was not the only co-host of "The View" to levy criticism against Scott. Whoopi Goldberg and Sunny Hostin also shared their disapproval. Hostin questioned Scott's perspective on systemic racism, stating, "One of the issues that Tim Scott has is that he seems to think, 'Because I made it, everyone can make it.' Ignoring, again, the fact that he's the exception and not the rule. And until he's the rule, then he can stop talking about systemic racism."

Goldberg diagnosed Scott with what she called the "Clarence Thomas syndrome." Scott refuted Hostin's allegations during a conversation with Fox News, saying, "We have to ignore the far left by disproving their lies by our actions. Here's the funny thing: The host, Sunny, she wants to be judged by the content of her character, not the color of her skin. The fact of the matter is America is a story of evolution — a never-told story of evolution in too many of our schools that are indoctrinating our kids instead of educating our kids."
