Reacting to a recording of Behar's statements on Twitter, Scott defined himself as the political candidate most feared by the "radical Left." This sentiment mirrored his declaration during his presidential campaign launch in 2024. "When a Black conservative who believes in the future of this nation stands up to be counted, they lose their minds," he stated.

Joining the fray, Congressman Donalds also took issue with Behar's remarks, underscoring a controversial past incident where Behar was pictured as a Black woman for Halloween. This matter became public in 2019. He retorted, "Joy, dressing up as a Black woman for Halloween with dark paint on your face doesn't magically make you Black or make you an expert on what it's like to be Black. From one Black person to another White liberal who got a pass for wearing Black face, sit this one out."

Scott Jennings, a prominent commentator at CNN, expressed his displeasure via Twitter, stating, "Attention black Americans: don't even *think* about having a mind of your own or else this wealthy white lady will come for you."
