On Friday, Vice President Kamala Harris visited Georgia to deliver a speech on campaign finance reform.

During the event, she referred to pro-life voters with open-carry gun permits as "extremists." "These extremists there claim to be for life but instead of acting to save lives from gun violence, state-by-state, made it legal to open carry a gun without even a permit or background check," Harris said.

The event was held at Flourish Legendary Events in Buckhead, a District in Atlanta, Georgia, and was organized by the Democratic Party of Georgia. Harris referenced a woman killed on Thursday in Atlanta and said, "Meanwhile, we mourn for the mother killed at a medical facility just a few blocks from here." According to Fox 5 News, Deion Patterson was arrested after the incident, which allegedly saw him open fire on five women, killing one.

According to Wisevoter.com, 38 states in the union have open carry laws, and most of them do not require permits. During her speech, Harris said she was "proud to run for re-election with our president, Joe Biden, so we can finish the job."

Harris was given the job of border czar. In that capacity, 2,378,944 illegal immigrant encounters were reported in the 2022 fiscal year, and 1,659,206 were reported in FY 2021, a historic number each year. Harris also said, "We look at where we are moving forward, and there's a legacy that President Biden and all of us here that we have to advance every day in terms of the work that has happened right here in this state."

It is worth noting that Atlanta has seen a marked uptick in murders over the past three years, reflecting a trend of increased crime in Democrat-led cities, according to Fox 5. The Vice President's comments are likely controversial, particularly among pro-life and gun rights advocates.
