Donald Trump demands that all persons arrested for any activities related to January 6 be released immediately. He posted a video rant about it on his platform, Truth Social. He is making this claim based on his idea that the 2020 election was “stolen.”. Raw Story reports that the former President recently referred to footage of the Capitol invasion on Tucker Carlson’s show. Trump posted the following on his social media platform: “Patriotic Americans are being prosecuted for peacefully protesting a stolen election,” said Trump. “Let them go! They were convicted or are awaiting trial based on a giant lie, a radical left con job. Thank you to Tucker Carlson and Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy for what you both have done. New video footage is irrefutable. Absolutely irrefutable. Thank you very much.” [tweet_embed]March 19, 2023[/tweet_embed] He continued by saying: “We have to fight for our country, and we have to fight like we’ve never fought before,” and “Our country is great, but it’s in tremendous trouble. We’re a nation in decline. We have to stop being called a nation in decline. They’re laughing at us all over the world. We’re not going to let that happen any longer.” Trump did not clarify what he was referring to when he stated that the country was “in decline.” Instead, he left that up to the readers of his posts to determine for themselves. So far, more than 1,000 people have been detained and charged with crimes related to their actions on January 6. That number could grow as the FBI and other agencies still look into plenty of footage taken that day to determine everything that happened. It might still be a long journey to figure out what happened in full on January 6, but former President Trump has settled on his views on that day.
