Mediaite reports that Carlson took exception to the idea that Graham called for Russian planes to be shut down because they recently shot down one of our drones over the Black Sea.
Senator Graham appeared on Hannity to speak about the Russian plane that downed an American drone over the Black Sea. On Wednesday, Carlson aired a clip from the show that showed what Senator Graham felt about the drone’s downing. In those comments, the Senator said:
“Well, we should hold them accountable and say that, ‘If you ever get near another U.S. asset flying in international waters, your airplane will be shot down,’” and “What would Ronald Reagan do right now? He would start shooting Russian planes down if they were threatening our assets.”

At the same time, the host, Sean Hannity, called for the United States to shoot down Russian drones in response to them shooting down one of ours.

Carlson has been highly critical of having U.S. aid sent to Ukraine to help them defend themselves against Russian aggression. He took some time on his show to mock the words that Senator Graham released about his opinions on the recent downing of a Russian drone. Carlson said:
“What would Ronald Reagan do?” and “Ooh, good question, Senator Graham. Ronald Reagan’s two-term presidency was notable for the fact that he did not declare war on the Russian air force, and therefore the United States did not go to war with Russia.”

Mediaite reports that Carlson said that Reagan avoided war with the Russians and oversaw a strong economy simultaneously. Carlson continued with his mocking words by saying: “Do you remember that?” and “Seems like a long time ago. It’s pretty much the opposite of the approach being pushed right now by Lindsey Graham and his friends in the war party. Their plan is to ignore our borders in the United States, but to defend Ukraine.”

Carlson said that Reagan would “probably vomit” at Graham’s stance over the recent issues with Russia. He feels strongly that Graham is on the wrong path with all of this and is upset that it is even up for consideration. The feeling is that it is highly possible that continuing to escalate the situation with Russia can only end in disaster for both nations.
