The Free Beacon reports that the Biden Administration has criticized the Russians by saying that the downing of an American drone was “environmentally unsound.” This leaves many people scratching their heads, wondering why this is the specific thing that the administration is worried about related to the drone downing.

On Wednesday, Russian warplanes attacked a U.S. surveillance drone over the Black Sea. This incident raised tensions between two countries that are already at very high levels of stress as far as tensions are concerned. Therefore, there are a lot of people who are concerned that this situation could spill out into other areas of geopolitical tension.

U.S. European Command said the following in a statement: “Several times before the collision, the [Russian] Su-27s dumped fuel on and flew in front of the [American] MQ-9 in a reckless, environmentally unsound, and unprofessional manner.”

The fact that the Pentagon is making statements about the environmental impact of the downing of an American drone is absurd in many people’s minds. Not only that, but some are concerned that this will make the situation so much more dangerous than it needs to be. Of all of the things to be focused on now, it seems like the environmental impact of the downing of a drone is not something we should focus on.
