Two Florida nursing home employees have been arrested and charged with abusing elderly residents.

Fox News reports that arrest records show that Rosa Edwards, 23, and Aneisha Xitavia Hall, 19, both of St. Petersburg, Florida, were charged with two counts of battery on a person older than 65. This is according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were informed of a potential issue at the Inspired Living at Ivy Ridge Assisted Living Facility on March 14. Their information was that these individuals might have battered two residents within the home. Upon learning of the incident, deputies investigated what might have happened in this situation.

Fox News reports that deputies in the area were told that the incident was a resident-on-resident abuse situation, but deputies were suspicious that this was the case. They wanted to continue investigating the situation, which is precisely what they did. The investigation found that Edwards and Hall had instigated the situation between the residents, leading to charges against the two employees.

The deputies noted that Edwards and Hall had grabbed an elderly resident at the facility and held him to the ground. Instead of trying to help the man get back up on his feet after he was knocked to the ground, the two employees were said to have fled the scene.

The two women reported the incident to a supervisor on site, but they said that the man was abusing a female at the facility. However, again, the police did not buy into this theory and did not believe it was a reliable or accurate story. They feel that the two employees are doing everything they can to avoid taking responsibility for their role in this incident.

Fox News reports that the women finally admitted to using excessive force when faced with the reality of the situation and the things that police know that they did. However, it was not an easy road to get to the point of getting them to finally admit to what they had done.

It took a lot of work and a lot of investigation by a dedicated police force who refused to give up on this case. They wanted to make sure that the elderly residents at the nursing home received the justice that they deserved for what happened to them in this situation.
