The New York Post reports that the tweet warned that the fate of humanity would be sealed if we all continued to use fossil fuels in the same manner that we have for decades.
The tweet is suspected of having been referring to a report by Harvard University professor of atmospheric chemistry James Anderson that claimed that the burning of fossil fuels had resulted in the planet being pushed back 33 million years to a time on this planet when there were no ice caps at all, according to TalkTV.
The tweet was dated June 21, 2018, and cited Anderson as saying: “A top climate scientist is warning that climate change will wipe out all of humanity unless we stop using fossil fuels over the next five years.”

In the article, Anderson argues that humanity won’t die off by 2023 but will set ourselves on an irreversible course toward planetary disaster if changes are not made by 2023. Many say this summary needs to accurately represent what the student and the science say about climate change. Instead, they allege that Thunberg and others have used specific data that they prefer to create a sense of panic among the public.

Anderson is quoted as saying the following in the article that Thunberg linked to: “The chance that there will be any permanent ice left in the Arctic after 2022 is essentially zero.”
The Post could not immediately verify whether Thunberg had deleted the tweet. That is being alleged by many in public, but it still needs to be clarified if this is true.

Conservative commentators were all over this story as they found it hypocritical that Thunberg would continue to claim how damaging climate change could be in the such alarming and inaccurate language. That is worth noting as we review what Thunberg may or may not have done with this tweet. Regardless of whether she deleted the tweet, the fact remains that she once put this out into the world, which we should all be concerned about.

Charlie Kirk, a founder of Turning Point USA, turned to Twitter to express his views about what Thunberg had said by commenting: “One of the best headlines of the year so far… ‘Greta Thunberg deletes 2018 tweet saying the world will end in 2023 after world does not end.’”
