On Wednesday, Whoopi Goldberg, co-host of "The View," released an apology video for using the term "gypped" during a discussion about potential criminal charges against former President Donald Trump in connection with the alleged hush money scandal involving Stormy Daniels.

Goldberg regretted her choice of words and acknowledged that she should have opted for an alternative term, such as "cheated."

During the conversation, Goldberg employed the slang term "gypped" when referring to the Daniels case. Although the term has been historically used to describe being cheated or swindled, it is now considered offensive by some due to its association with "Gypsies." Goldberg stated in her apology video that she was sorry for using the word and should have given more thought to her language choice.

"You know when you're a certain age you use words that you know from when you're a kid or you remember saying, and that's what I did today and I shouldn't have, I should have thought about it a little longer before I said it. But I didn't and I should have said ‘cheated,’ but I used another word and I'm really, really sorry."

Some Twitter users expressed confusion over Goldberg's apology, claiming they were unaware that the term was considered offensive. In early 2022, Goldberg faced suspension from "The View" after stating that the Holocaust was not about race but rather man's inhumanity to man. She did not issue an immediate apology following that particular episode.

During an appearance on Friday's show, actress Jane Fonda sparked controversy by suggesting "murder" as a possible course of action for pro-abortion activists in addition to marching and protesting against abortion laws. The statement was made amidst cross-talk, and Fonda's "Grace and Frankie" co-star Lily Tomlin requested that she repeat herself. Fonda reiterated the word "murder," eliciting laughter from the hosts. Co-host Joy Behar insisted that Fonda was only joking, and the actress later issued a statement confirming that her comment had been made in jest.
