On Tuesday, President Biden shared a tweet containing a photograph of a handwritten letter he claimed to have received from a young girl named Charlotte, urging him to address the gender wage gap.

The letter, which contained several errors, sparked widespread skepticism and criticism from internet users who questioned its authenticity.

The letter stated, "Dear President Biden: I just wanted to tell [you] something not fair to ladies. Men are getting more money than girls. I think you should fix this. Since you're the president. Even I'm a child and I think we should do something."

In response, Biden tweeted, "Charlotte, I couldn’t agree more. Women lose thousands of dollars each year, and hundreds of thousands over a lifetime, because of gender and racial wage gaps. I’m committed to building an economy where my daughters have the same rights and opportunities as my sons."

Twitter users were quick to express their doubts about the letter. Greg Price, Communications Director for the State Freedom Caucus Network, tweeted, "Lmfao this is so fake that it's embarrassing Biden's handlers even thought anyone would think it was real." Author and comedian Tim Young echoed this sentiment, writing, "Sooo, they have staff writing fake notes from children to Biden now... lol."

Beth Baisch, a photojournalist for The Post Millennial, questioned who might have written the letter, asking, "Which of your staffers held the pencil in the wrong hand to write this?" Meanwhile, software engineer Billy Markus sarcastically commented, "looks super real and totally not fake."

The conservative commentator duo the Hodgetwins also weighed in, tweeting, "People actually believe this s---?" Brittany Hughes, the managing editor of MRCTV, added, "Holy load of bull, Batman."

Luke Negron, a former congressional nominee, criticized both the letter and the wage gap concept, saying, "1) This letter is so fake that it's embarrassing. 2) The wage gap is even more fake. When you factor in job choice, willingness to work nights/weekends, job danger etc, there is no wage gap. Your 'wage gap' comes from comparing a part-time female teacher to a full-time male engineer."

Sean Davis, CEO and co-founder of The Federalist, jabbed First Lady Jill Biden, asking, "Are we sure Jill Biden didn’t write that? It’s written at the same grade level as her joke of a ‘dissertation.’"

Several commentators made light of the situation by suggesting that Charlotte could solve her problem by embracing transgender or non-binary identities. Radio host Kim Klacik tweeted, "Just tell Charlotte to become non-binary. Problem solved," while Brandon Straka, founder of the WalkAway campaign, said, "Just tell Charlotte she’s a boy. Problem solved."

Journalist Caleb Parke pointed out that if Charlotte were a real person, she might face issues with male competitors in sports, stating, "Poor Charlotte will be competing against men in any sports she decides to join or her parents put her in thanks to Biden. Let's hope she doesn't end up with a concussion." Jeremy Redfern, a spokesman for Governor DeSantis, took the opportunity to reference Hunter Biden's controversial work with Ukrainian energy company Burisma, tweeting, "I guess his daughters didn’t have the ‘right and opportunity’ to sit on the board of Burisma."
