During the Academy Awards on Sunday night, host Jimmy Kimmel swiped at Fox News host Tucker Carlson for airing previously undisclosed footage of the January 6 Capitol riot.

Kimmel, while introducing the film editing category, made a quip about the importance of editing, saying, "Editors can turn 44,000 hours of violent insurrection footage into a respectful sight-seeing tour of the Capitol." The assembled Hollywood elite laughed in response.

Last week, Carlson aired parts of the 42,000 hours of surveillance footage of the riot given to him by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. The footage included Jacob Chansley, known as the "QAnon Shaman," being escorted around the Capitol building by police officers who appeared to be attempting to open locked doors for him.

Carlson claimed that the footage showed the police acting as Chansley's tour guides and debunked the media narrative that Officer Brian Sicknick was killed by the rioters. According to Carlson, Sicknick was seen in the footage as "healthy and vigorous," wearing a helmet and guiding Trump supporters out of the building, contradicting the media's narrative that he died of a head injury.

Ray Epps was also seen in the footage. However, he was there thirty minutes after the time he testified to in front of the House Select Committee, claiming he texted his nephew that he was heading back to the hotel.

This is not the first time Kimmel has taken a jab at conservatives. Earlier this month, he suggested that Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was a conspiracy theorist for wanting to know the names of those listed on Jeffrey Epstein's client list.

And while admitting the possibility that the Coronavirus originated from a lab leak in Wuhan, China, Kimmel criticized former President Trump for calling it the "China virus," despite admissions by the Department of Energy and FBI Director Christopher Wray that the virus likely originated from a lab leak in Wuhan.
