According to the Post Millennial, Chansley was arrested and served a four-year prison sentence.
Recently, security footage from the January 6th event was provided to Fox News host Tucker Carlson from the Speaker of the House, Kevin McCarthy. The video was telling, showing Chansley being escorted by police rather than being a rioter around the Capitol.

This was in response to new video footage where Chansley told protestors to go home and remain peaceful after reading the same from former President Donald J. Trump.
Over a megaphone, the footage shows Chansley saying, “We made our point. Donald Trump asked everybody to go home. So what are we gonna do? We’re gonna obey our president, we’re gonna do as he asked, and we’re gonna go home.” He added, “Let’s get out of here, guys.”

Someone in the crowd responded he was staying. Chansley replied, “Okay, then stay motherf*cker, I don’t give a sh*t. This is America.”
Chansley continued reading Trump’s tweet urging them to go home and remain peaceful. He said, “You guys wanna stay, that’s fine. Donald Trump has asked everyone to go home.” Then he read the tweet to the crowd, adding, “We are not Antifa.”

According to AP News, the organization tried to address “widely shared misinformation” in their article, noting that Chansley was asked to leave multiple times once inside the Capitol and did not. AP News reported that U.S. Capitol Police Chief J. Thomas Manger said, “Last night, an opinion program aired commentary that was filled with offensive and misleading conclusions about the January 6 attack. The opinion program never reached out to the Department to provide accurate context. One false allegation is that our officers helped the rioters and acted as ‘tour guides.’ This is outrageous and false.”
In September 2021, Chansley pled guilty to obstructing an official proceeding, which is a felony. His sentence included 41 months in prison plus 36 months of supervised release and $2,000 in restitution.
