There has been plenty of chatter around GOP Governor Glenn Youngkin that he might run for the Republican nomination in 2024 against former President Trump.

Now, The Hill reports that there is even more speculation that Youngkin might genuinely go for it after he has made some moves to suggest that the chatter is real.

Youngkin has been spotted outside his state, traveling around some of the early primary states in what may be a sign of a potential run for President. Additionally, The Hill reports that Youngkin appeared on CNBC’s “Squawk Box” and participated in a CNN town hall event. He’s trying to get his face in front of as many potential voters as possible. Additionally, the Governor met with donors in New York last week.

Recent polling is strong for Youngkin and could be better than President Biden. A Roanoke College poll found that Governor Youngkin enjoys 57 percent support among residents of Virginia. Meanwhile, President Biden only has a 38 percent approval rating among Americans in the same poll. Among Independent voters in the same survey, Youngkin enjoys a 54-35 percent lead over the President. That could be a good case for the electability of Youngkin over other potential GOP candidates in the field.

Youngkin spoke with CNBC and said: “We’re driving our economic development,” and “We’re driving education to a new place and raising the ceiling and the floor. We’re making sure that law enforcement is supported, not demeaned. And we’re doing it in a successful way in a state that truly is purple.”

He was asked if he would take a stab at running for the White House in 2024. Youngkin said that he is just looking to focus on Virginia right now. The Governor followed this by saying: “I do think the reason why people are asking this question of me is because the issues that I’m dealing with in Virginia are the same issues that the nation is dealing with. And we’re winning,”

Many close to the Governor insisted that the activities making people think he is running for President are actually about pulling support for Republicans who will run in several competitive races for the state legislature in Virginia next year. Youngkin might be doing both things at the same time. Only time will tell what he decides to do.
