Newsom has taken one shot after another in Florida, and DeSantis is finally firing back.

He recently spoke at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, which is in Simi Valley in California, and it was the perfect opportunity for DeSantis to throw a few punches.

The Washington Examiner points out, “For months, the two have traded barbs, juxtaposing their states and trying to claim credit for governing the freer state of the two. California’s population declined during the fallout from the pandemic, and the state lost a congressional seat. Meanwhile, Florida’s population has grown, and the state gained a seat.”

DeSantis became one of the most popular members of the GOP during the COVID-19 pandemic when residents of other states flocked to Florida for the lax COVID measures. He’s since become known for taking on Walt Disney and striking back against leftists that want to put Critical Race Theory in schools. He’s also openly criticized California alongside other members of the GOP.

Governor Newsom often strikes back and even rents out billboards to criticize the lax gun laws, GOP states that don’t support woke theories, and abortion laws. According to Newsom, California is a state of freedom. During one speech, he even encouraged people that live in Florida to come to California, where they can be free.

The rivalry continues. Newsom welcomed DeSantis by welcoming him to the freedom state. DeSantis remarked that Newsom was so concerned with Florida that he had to come.

During his speech in Southern California, DeSantis said, “We’ve witnessed a great American exodus from states governed by leftist politicians imposing leftist ideologies and delivering poor results. And you can see massive gains in states like Florida, who are governing according to the tried and true principles that President Reagan held dear.”

DeSantis remains a favorite but has not announced whether he will run for President. He’s considered one of Trump’s top rivals if he chooses to run. DeSantis said he would tell whether he is running later this year.
