However, Fox News now reports that Hogan has declined to run for President in this cycle. Hogan spoke with CBS about it and said:.

“I did give it serious consideration, and I talked to people everywhere, and I talked to my family, and it was a tough decision, but I’ve decided that I will not be a candidate for the Republican nomination for President.”

He continued by saying, “It’s really mostly about the country and the party,” and “The personal decision – it was like, I didn’t need that job. I didn’t need to run for another office… I considered it because I thought it was a public service, and maybe I could make a difference.”

Hogan said he didn’t want to see a big fight for the GOP nomination. He pointed out that, in his view (and the view of most), Trump and DeSantis are at the top of the pack, and everyone else is far behind. Hogan then said that plenty of other candidates and potential candidates are sitting in the single digits of support. He noted that the more single-digit candidates there are, the less likely someone will rise and become a real challenger to Trump or DeSantis.

The former Governor was asked if running against Trump scared him off. He responded:

“That really didn’t scare me. You’re right, it would be a tough race, and he’s very tough, you know. But I beat life-threatening cancer, so having Trump call me names on Twitter didn’t really scare me off.”

The former Governor went on to say, “And I still believe in a Republican Party that upholds and honors perhaps our most sacred tradition: the peaceful transition of power.” “I will stand with anyone who shares the common sense conservative vision for the Republican Party and can get us back to winning elections again.”

Hogan then added a tweet on Twitter after viewing the interview. The message sums up his reasons for deciding not to run for office as the 2024 President of the United States, saying:

“I have long said that I care more about ensuring a future for the Republican Party than securing my own future in the Republican Party. That is why I will not be seeking the Republican nomination for President.”
