A significant politician is warning that we could enter a “dystopian society” if we don’t work on reforming the public education system in the United States.

She even said that she would risk losing her seat in power if it meant that she could steer the reforms that she believes are necessary for the United States to get things on track with the educational system once again.

The politician in question is Virginia’s Republican Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears, a panelist on the “Parents with Pitchforks” panel at the Conservative Political Action Conference at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center.

Mercedes Schlapp, co-host of CPAC Now, moderated the panel and said: “We’ve got to protect our children, we’ve got to defend our parents and not allow the leftist radical agenda to take over our school system.”

Sears took her time to advocate for a school choice program. This program would allow parents to select the right schools for their children based on their needs. It also allows parents to help their children escape from the failing school systems in their local area. There are a lot of people who agree that this is something that ought to be considered as the educational system in the United States continues to drift further and further away from the traditional values that have long been established as actual American values.

As Sears spoke on the panel, she said:

“If I have to lose the next election so that the children can get an opportunity for a good education, I’ll do it,”

and

“It’s not about maintaining a seat. It’s about our children and their future.”

She said that the issue of schools is “the new Brown v. Board of Education fight,.” She also stated that “the rich people have already made a decision on school choice.” In other words, she feels that the current system is discriminatory. It means that the poor and middle class don’t have the opportunity to send their children where they want them to go to school because they don’t have the funds to make that choice. Meanwhile, wealthy parents can do so because they have the necessary resources to make it happen.

She stated: “You sent your children to private school, so why can’t everybody have that same option?”. This is the kind of issue that millions of parents want to be addressed as they are looking at the situations that manifest themselves in the public school system.
