That is how the bell is tolling in Orlando, as a Florida school teacher was suspended after TikTok videos of his students went viral.
According to the New York Post, sixth-grade teacher Ethan Hooper, who teaches language at Howard Middle School, used his white students as ‘political props’ to make several points during Black History month.
In the videos, Hooper has white kids in various modes of servitude, feeding, fanning, and bowing to black students.

In another video, Hooper aims for Governor Ron DeSantis and his “Stop WOKE Act,” which compels schools in all districts to remove texts focused on Critical Race Theory and books with sexually explicit content or illustrations. In the videos, Hooper has students chanting that “books are bad” and “I shall not read books.” The video ends by showing a student hiding in a separate room and reading a book.

In yet another clip, Hooper walks around the classroom snatching books that are not controversial, including Harry Potter, away from the students as they attempt to read the material. As he grabs the books, Hooper announces that anything related to race and black history is prohibited.

Things heated up when Libs of TikTok shared the clips on Twitter.
When parents became aware of students involved in these politically-charged and racist acts and that the videos were posted on social media, complaints were forthcoming.

One Orlando resident with a student at Howard Middle School said, “If one of the teachers were using my kid for political gain, that would upset me.” “What if I don’t believe in that, you know, that’s not what I’m teaching my kid.”

Another poster said, “He needs to lose his job now. He can take his issues to adults in the system. Instead, he used children he’s supposed to be caring for on a personal social media account.”
Another post asked, “I wonder if his activism is part of the curriculum? I’m gonna go out on a limb and guess, no.”
One detractor asked, “What is a teacher doing on social media during school hours, much less posting his students’ identities?”
Orange County Public Schools Superintendent Maria Vazquez said, “I am appalled at the behavior and judgment of the teacher who posted the inappropriate videos using his students as political props.” “This is not free speech - it is the exploitation of our students for political purposes, and it will not be tolerated in our school system.”
Media Manager of the school district, Michael Oliendorf, said Hooper’s fate has likely been sealed.
