On Monday night, Greene tweeted that she was “attacked in a restaurant tonight by an insane [woman] and screamed at by her adult son.” According to Greene’s deputy chief of staff, Nick Dyer, a woman began berating Greene before the woman’s son started “screaming expletives at the top of his lungs.” The restaurant then asked the pair to leave, and Greene and her staff were moved to a private table.

Behar, known for her liberal views, said on The View: “I don’t believe that anybody should be going up to any of us, anybody in public, and harassing us. And that goes for you too, Marjorie.” She referenced Greene’s past aggressive behavior, including her confrontation with Representative Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and her “stalking” of Parkland shooting survivor David Hogg.

However, co-host Sunny Hostin was not as willing to defend Greene, saying: “You know, she was disrespectful to the President of the United States during the State of the Union. She heckles people all the time.” Hostin also requested more information about the incident, including the location and context of the alleged attack.

Behar urged Hostin to “take her [Greene’s] word for it in this case,” but Hostin responded, “I can’t do that.”

Later in the segment, co-host Sara Haines wondered if the incident would teach Greene “empathy,” Behar replied, “My mother…always said, don’t spit up in the air. It comes back in your face.”

Regardless of their political differences, the co-hosts of The View agreed that harassment in public spaces is unacceptable. As Behar stated, “If you don’t like what we say, write to us. It’s fine.”
