The Washington Post has gone after widely-used claims from liberals about Trump-era policies being at the core of the issues with the train derailment that recently took place in a small town in Ohio.

A fact-checker from the media organization stated that the claims made by Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and others in the Biden White House are simply not accurate as far as blaming all of this on the Trump policies.

Post-fact-checker Glenn Kessler led an exploration of the claims made by the Biden White House in its shifting of blame related to the train derailment. He looked at the regulatory changes that the Trump administration could have made. Kessler wrote the following after looking over all of this information: “From our analysis, none of the regulatory changes made during the Trump administration at this point can be cited as contributing to the accident.”

Kessler also determined that the Trump-era policy that rolled back the Obama-era policies of requiring specific types of brakes on long trains would only have had a minimal impact on this kind of situation.

Another Trump-era policy that was determined not to be a factor when it comes to this specific accident is the nixing of the Obama-era policy that required two-man crews on these types of trains. That is important to note because this is another thing that many people pointed to as they tried to say this train derailment was somehow the fault of Trump.

Kessler also wrote the following: “So far, Trump’s rollback of regulations can’t be blamed for Ohio train wreck,”

Fox News reports that Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and other members of the Biden White House have tried to pin the blame on the policies of the Trump Administration. Buttigieg said the following about a recent visit to East Palestine, Ohio (the city impacted by the train derailment) by former President Trump: “It was definitely an ironic thing to do. You take down regulations, you water down regulations, you weaken the power of the administration to deal with freight railroad companies, and then you show up wanting to be a great friend of the people who have been impacted by a rail disaster.”

Many in the liberal media are trying to make the case that this entire disaster is Trump’s fault. “The View” has been particularly pushing this narrative. Co-host Joy Behar said: “That’s who you voted for in that district. Donald Trump, who reduces all safety”.
