When the mask mandates began to taper off, most people were relieved.

However, you couldn’t help but notice that some people kept wearing masks. A study reveals who is more likely to keep wearing a mask. It’s not the people with suppressed immune systems or people concerned about COVID. Ugly people are more likely to keep wearing a mask.

People that are middle-aged or younger tend to think that wearing a mask inhibits their ability to leave a good impression on people. This makes sense because people often viewed as attractive tend to have a particular privilege. However, it’s not necessarily how society views people. It’s how people view themselves.

The Gateway Pundit states, “The report cites ‘Overall, we provide a novel finding that self-perceived attractiveness has significant effects on mask-wearing intention via mask attractiveness belief in the post-pandemic of COVID-19.’”

A third study was conducted on 442 Americans to see if the results were similar. They used a crowdsourcing platform called Amazon Mechanical Turk to get participants. There were three experiments. They were asked questions like if they were going to walk the dog, would you wear a face mask, and if they would wear one to a job interview.

Then, the participant’s question asked how much they wanted to make a good impression on other people. Other questions included ones regarding whether or not they thought they were attractive.

The results were that people that think they’re ugly want to cover their faces to give a good impression. According to Eviemagazine.com, “The people who scored themselves as attractive were less likely to say yes to these questions, while also indicating that wearing a mask doesn’t make them look better. People who admitted that a mask would make them look more competent and attractive were the ones who said they were likely to wear a mask to the job interview.”
