According to a report from The Post Millennial, the decision – which was made by the New York City Department of Education – has raised serious questions about the safety of students in the city.
Despite New York City’s strict policy that all students in Kindergarten through Grade 5 must be vaccinated against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio, measles, mumps, rubella, Hepatitis B, and chicken pox, the Department of Education now allows children of illegal migrants to attend school without proof of the mandatory vaccinations.
The decision has caused an uproar among parents and city officials. Many are concerned that allowing unvaccinated children to attend school puts their own children at risk of contracting dangerous diseases.
