This Dem Mayor Sentenced To Six Months In Prison For Child Porn

A former Oregon Mayor faces the consequences of his involvement in possessing pornographic material of minors.

Many underage victims whose pictures appeared on the former Mayor’s thumb drive are already known to The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Dennis Doyle, the former Democrat mayor of Beaverton, Oregon, was sentenced on Tuesday to six months in federal prison, according to reporting by the Daily Caller. The judge ordered him to pay $22,000 in restitution to his victims, according to the Oregon District U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Doyle took office as the Mayor of Beaverton in 2009. He later won a re-election bid in 2020 against Beaverton City Councilor Lacey Beaty, according to reporting by the Willamette Week.

His charges include crimes for the possession of child pornographic materials between November 2014 and December 2015. According to the Daily Caller, Doyle confessed to FBI agents when they approached him about this situation in 2022.

The Beaverton Police Department informed the FBI of a possible situation after a local business owner discovered a thumb drive in January 2022 that appeared to belong to Doyle, which was left behind and contained child pornographic materials. Many images on the thumb drive included children under 12 years of age. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children identified many of these children as documented sexually exploited minors.

The six-month prison sentence for Doyle will be followed by five years of supervised release, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. This sentence is light compared to what he could have faced for his crime. It is a crime punishable by up to 20 years and a lifetime of supervised release.

“Mr. Doyle will be required to register as a sex offender for life,” were the words of a U.S. Attorney’s Office official when they spoke to the Daily Caller about this situation. That same office declined to give any further comment or information about this matter.
