It seems like J.K. Rowling can write, tweet, or speak about anything drawing some form of controversy these days. However, the Daily Caller points out that while some want to yell at Rowling, others see her as a defender of women. The Daily Caller reports that Rowling has nearly 14 million Twitter followers and tweeted the following message out to those followers: “Men defining what a woman is, what women should and shouldn’t fear, what women should and shouldn’t say, what rights women should be fine with giving up, and, of course, what constitutes ‘real’ misogyny: get a bloody mirror. That’s real misogyny, looking right back at you,” [tweet_embed]January 27, 2023[/tweet_embed] The tweet generated a total of 50,000 likes in just a few hours. Rowling was once again on the radar of many who might not otherwise have listened to anything she was going to say. Rowling has been a longtime critic of the transgender movement. Many members of the transgender movement label her as one of their top opponents at this time. They see her as someone in full opposition to everything they stand for, and they are not afraid to bring this up frequently. However, the other side sees Rowling as a great defender of women. The Daily Caller notes that she opened a women-only shelter for abuse victims in December, and she has used her considerable wealth and platform to defend women across the board. Even though Rowling has stood up for women’s rights at every turn, some within the transgender rights movement believe that she is their top enemy, and they have taken direct shots at her over time. In at least one instance, Rowling was “doxed.” This is an attack when people opposed to you release documents that are personal to you and might give away vital data about yourself as a person, regardless of your desire to have that information become public or not. Many so-called activists who oppose her have been extremely vile and violent in their attacks against the Harry Potter series author. This is despite the fact that Rowling constantly defends women and that she has done many great things to protect the rights of women. However, to them, it seems like it is all about settling scores and trying to inflict damage on Rowling. That is what they are all about.
