Schwab is said to be the leading proponent of what he calls “stakeholder capitalism.” This appears to be the comment with which Elon Musk took the most issue. He was speaking at an awards ceremony for so-called “cultural leaders” on topics such as climate change. He was honored for his contributions to those topics and went out of his way to discuss mastering the future.
The Daily Wire says that Schwab said the following:
“We couldn’t meet at a more challenging time,” and continued by saying: “We are confronted with so many crises simultaneously. What does it need to master in the future? I think to have a platform where all stakeholders of global society are engaged; governments, business, civil society, young generation, and I could go on is a first step to meet all the challenges.”

The World Economic Forum was founded by Schwab and stated that its mission is to “demonstrate entrepreneurship in the global public interest while upholding the highest standards of governance. … Our activities are shaped by a unique institutional culture founded on the stakeholder theory, which asserts that an organization is accountable to all parts of society.”

American leaders at the World Economic Forum were said to enjoy a lavish lunch among some of the most powerful forces in world capitalism and government.
CNBC reports that politicians such as Gov. Brian Kemp (R-GA), Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ), Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) took place in the World Economic Forum along with various members of the House of Representatives according to their reporting.
This is also according to the reporting by CNBC. There were a lot of powerbrokers at the event, and at least some of them felt comfortable talking about “controlling the future,” much to the anger of people like Elon Musk.
