The Western Journal reported that the coach of this player’s team insisted that all players kneel before the game as the national anthem was playing. However, one brave player decided she wouldn’t go through with this absurd command.
Kiersten Hening played for the women’s Virginia Tech soccer team from 2018 to 2020, but she decided to go against the woke order of coach Charles Adair in 2020 because she would not kneel before the game. This is based on reporting by the New York Post.
Hening filed a lawsuit against Coach Adair in 2021. According to WSLS-TV:

She alleged that “because she refused to kneel, he benched her, subjected her to repeated verbal abuse, and forced her off the team.”

A federal judge gave the go-ahead to allow the lawsuit to move forward. However, the Roanoke Times reported that a $100,000 settlement was reached before the lawsuit could proceed further. The settlement stated that Hening’s First Amendment rights were violated because of her coach’s woke demands, which is why she could push for this sizable settlement for what happened to her.

The Western Journal said that Coach Adair sees things a bit differently. He stated:
“I am pleased the case against me has been closed, and I am free to move forward clear of any wrongdoing.”
Adam Mortara was the attorney representing Hening and shot back at Coach Adair, stating on Twitter:
“Kiersten Hening was benched for her free speech, and you paying a giant settlement proves it.”

Attorney Cameron Norris also represented Hening and stated that the settlement reached by both parties was an agreement not to have either side admit to any wrongdoing.
U.S. District Court Judge Thomas Cullen, who was the judge that said that the case could go forward, also stated:

“Ultimately, Adair may convince a jury that this coaching decision was based solely on Hening’s poor play during the UVA game, but the court, viewing the evidence in the light most favorable to Hening, cannot reach that conclusion as a matter of law.”

The ruling permitted Hening’s case to move forward. She stated that Adair:
“berated her at halftime in front of her teammates, and again at a film-review session the following week, for ‘bi***ing and moaning’ and ‘doing [her] own thing.’”
It is so pleasing that Hening decided to go after a case like this to defend her rights.
