A "Changed" Man: Biden Delivered End-Of-Year Pardons For These Crimes He Was Once VERY Tough On

However, at one point, he used to have a tough stance on all of these same crimes. None of the people pardoned are still in prison, by the way.

According to NYPost, “President Biden pardoned six people Friday — including a battered wife who killed her husband decades ago, a man who sold untaxed whiskey at age 18, and a former soldier who pleaded guilty to getting high on ecstasy.”

According to a statement from a White House official, Biden granted the pardons because he believes that Americans deserve a second chance. Per the NY Post, “‘President Biden believes America is a nation of second chances, and that offering meaningful opportunities for redemption and rehabilitation empowers those who have been incarcerated to become productive, law-abiding members of society,’ the official added.”

Although the six pardoned people can’t be released from prison because they’ve already served their sentences, they can now enjoy not having to deal with the consequences of having those charges on their records. For example, criminal charges on your record can impact future employment and your ability to get student loans.

That seems like a great thing, but the crimes they committed make it interesting. Per the NY Post, “Biden, currently vacationing at a donor’s home on St. Croix, pardoned Gary Davis, 66, of Yuma, Ariz., Edward De Coito, 50, of Dublin, Calif., Vincente Flores, 37, of Winters, Calif., Beverly Ibn-Tamas, 80, of Columbus, Ohio, Charlie Jackson, 77, of Swansea, SC, and John Nock, 72, of St. Augustine, Fla.”

Jackson was never able to join the Air Force because he got five years probation when he was caught selling untaxed whiskey. De Coito admitted to being involved in a massive drug trafficking ring, but the White House said that doesn’t count because he was just a carrier a handful of times. Ibn-Thomas was 50 when she shot her husband in what she says was self-defense. Flores got drunk and high on ecstasy while serving in the Air Force. Nock rented his home out for a marijuana-growing operation.

Biden’s previous stance on drug crimes sent people to prison for years just for selling marijuana. However, now he suddenly thinks it’s no big deal. Ironically, while he pardons people for drug crimes, thousands still sit behind bars and have yet to be forgiven.
