According to a report on Friday from Politico, Jamal Simmons, who serves as communications director for Harris, is planning to leave his position next month. Simmons told Politico, “Working for Vice President Harris has been an honor and a privilege.” “I’m so thankful for the confidence she put in me, and I will miss this fantastic team more than anything.”

In a statement to Politico, adviser to President Joe Biden, Anita Dunn said, “Jamal has been a great partner in the Vice President’s office, and he is a talented member of our White House communications team.”

According to the Daily Wire, Simmons intends to move to New York with his family. It needs to be made clear who will replace Simmons.
Harris has lost several other staff members since taking office a little over two years ago. The Washington Post referred to the exits as the “exodus,” which has prompted questions about the Harris work environment.

When senior adviser and spokesperson Symone Sanders left Harris’ staff last year, questions about the dysfunction of her staff, along with criticism Harris has faced, such as the southern border issue, arose.
The Daily Wire notes the other staffers who have left the Harris team include Rohini Kosoglu, who served as domestic policy adviser, Deputy Press Secretary Sabina Singh, speechwriter Meghan Groob, and Ashley Etienne, the Communications Director.

In an email to the staff on Friday, Chief of Staff Lorraine Voles noted that Simmons had agreed to stay for another year to help Harris “steady the ship.” Voles added that part of Simmons’ contributions during his tenure was to build Harris’ “digital presence and building relationships with national, regional and constituency media.”

The Daily Wire also reports Josh Hsu, the chief legal advisor, has announced his departure by the end of November.
A former Harris staffer who remains anonymous told The Washington Post, “With Kamala, you have to put up with a constant amount of soul-destroying criticism and her own lack of confidence.” “So you’re constantly sort of propping up a bully, and it’s not really clear why.”
Another anonymous Harris staffer told Politico in 2021, “It’s not a healthy environment, and people often feel mistreated. It’s not a place where people feel supported but a place where people feel treated like s***.”
