A new report from The Post Millennial discusses the proposed Bill 1011 to block child sex changes by Oklahoma legislators.

The bill prevents doctors from providing services to young people who are confused about their gender but are still in a state of identity development. The bill seeks to prohibit bilateral mastectomies, hysterectomies, genital surgery, cross-sex hormones, and puberty blockers.

Oklahoma Republican Representative Jim Olsen filed bill 1011 specifies that healthcare providers cannot perform sex changes on individuals under 21 years of age.

In a press release, Olsen said, "It's irresponsible for anybody in health care to provide or recommend life-altering surgeries that may later be regretted." "We know there are some people who undergo the gender transition process and later identify as their biological sex. Performing irreversible procedures on young people can do irreparable harm to them mentally and physically later in life."

The bill, if passed into law, would mean a felony charge with a prison sentence of up to 10 years and a $100,000 fine for any health care professional to perform 'gender transition procedures.'

Any healthcare professional providing these procedures would deem to be administering "unprofessional conduct," resulting in the "immediate revocation" of their license to practice medicine.

The bill also addresses individuals who have undergone gender transition procedures provided by healthcare professionals. The bill states that those patients who were too young to make such a decision with life-changing results will be able to file criminal and civil charges against the healthcare professional until they reach their 45th birthday,

The proposal prohibits public funds from going to any organization providing gender transition procedures to anyone under 21. The bill also includes exceptions for conditions, anomalies, mutations, or sexual development disorders that are medically diagnosed, according to Fox 25 news.

Oklahoma is one of several states in America to attempt to ban pediatric medical transition. Michigan enacted its bill in October, and Florida voted to ban gender-affirming care for minors. Across the pond, England, Finland, and Sweden have banned gender transition procedures.

Bill 1011 will be considered at the next legislative session on February 6, 2023.
