President Biden made the announcement during the White House Tribal Nations Summit held at the Department of the Interior. The summit was scheduled to announce efforts to put new policies in place to support Tribal communities. During the summit meeting, tribal leaders can interact with top officials regarding ways to support and strengthen nation-to-nation relationships while ensuring indigenous communities survive.
Biden also said on opening day of the summit that he was sure to make mistakes. He opened by saying, “Thank you for your partnership, and I’m sure I’ll make mistakes, but you know me, don’t hesitate to correct me when I make them, and I know you, and you won’t hesitate.”
